Removals in Hampstead & Belsize Park
NW3 — the largest period houses in the borough, the mansion blocks along Finchley Road, and village streets that a long vehicle cannot always get into.
NW3 covers more ground, more money and more variety than anywhere else in the borough. A day in Hampstead can mean a five-floor house on a steep street or a one-bed on the fourth floor of a block with a porter, and the two have almost nothing in common.
The big period houses
Around the village, up towards the Heath and through the older streets of Belsize Park. The constraint is volume rather than access: basements, lofts, garden stores and several floors of substantial furniture, plus the contents that need cases and crates rather than blankets — mirrors, framed work, marble and anything inlaid.
These are surveyed properly. A room count on a house like this is not a quote, it is a guess.
The village streets
Narrow, steep and in places stepped, with parking that was allocated long before anyone owned two cars. Some of them a full-size vehicle simply cannot enter. We look at the approach before quoting, and where it will not work we shuttle from the nearest sensible point — in the quote as extra hands, not as a surprise.
Mansion blocks and purpose-built flats
Along Finchley Road, around Swiss Cottage and through Belsize Park. Easier physically and fussier administratively: goods lifts, booking sheets, porters and sometimes required floor protection. Tell us the block and we arrange it. Detail on mansion block moves.
West Hampstead
Purpose-built and converted flats with better loading than the village, three stations close together, and busy main roads that want an off-peak window rather than a heroic one.
The Heath
Worth mentioning only because it shapes the roads: several approaches that look direct on a map do not connect, and the ones that do are single-lane in places. We route around it in advance.

Hampstead & Belsize Park questions
01 What is the housing like?
The broadest range in Camden. Substantial period houses around the village and the Heath, mansion blocks along Finchley Road and around Swiss Cottage, garden and conversion flats through Belsize Park, and modern apartment stock on the main roads.
02 Are the village streets a problem?
Some of them, yes. Hampstead's older streets are narrow, steep and occasionally stepped, and a full-size vehicle cannot get into all of them. We look at the approach before quoting and shuttle where it is needed.
03 Why do the big houses take longer?
Volume and floors. Four or five levels including a basement and a loft, all of which are coming, and frequently contents that need cases rather than blankets. These are surveyed properly, not estimated.
04 Do you cover Swiss Cottage and West Hampstead?
Yes. Mansion blocks, purpose-built flats and modern apartment stock, with better loading than the village and the usual block procedures to arrange.
